Level 2
Fools Gold.
Jump into the water and take a swim. Look for an opening in the ceiling of the wooden tunnel and swim up for air. Climb out of the water and find yourself in a room with several exits. No time to explore because some idiot with a shotgun is running around on the higher ledges sniping at you. To make matters worse, a Doberman dog comes out to chew on your leg while the sniper is still shooting.
In between shooting the sniper, take out the dog. A second shotgun will run at you from the room across the way. Take him out, but don't go through there yet. Walk up a couple of the metal stairs and then hop back to take out the club wielding thug. Back at ground level, near the entrance pool, is a small room. Grab the large medikit from here and the shotgun shells from the baddie you shot first.
Now run into the room where the second shotgun man lies dead (the door closes behind you). Don't rifle his pockets just yet - there's another Doberman loose and behind you! When it's safe, grab the dead guard’s shells and jump across the pool to pick up some flares. Jump back. Run upstairs and shoot out the sickle and hammer windows. There's a switch on one side of the column in the middle of the room – it opens a door looking onto a rusty girder.
Going over to the shotgun shells by the window will trigger two flame throwers in yellow suits. They turn up downstairs and you should really try and take them out before they reach your level. Now grab the shells and pick up a small medikit from one of the flame throwers. Back upstairs, safety drop from the window ledge to the floor below, where you started this level. Head up the metal staircase and turn left to find a corridor at the top with a mesh gate at either end.
The first gate (to a room full of boxes) is shut, but the second is the one you opened in the flame-thrower room. Turn away from the open gate and find the switch nearby. Pull it to open the gate to the room with the boxes and head down the corridor to check it out. Pick up the M16 clips, and then pull the crate near the gate into the hallway as far as you can. Jump through into the flame-thrower room and return to the starting room and then back into the corridor.
Re-enter the crate room and pick up the M16 clips that were under the box. Now move the crate diagonally left from the doorway to uncover Secret #1 - stack of gold coins. Phew! Have a breather and then exit the box room and go through the gate with the huge rusty girder. Climb over it and walk around the corner of the corridor to find yourself in a room containing an inner room with lots of windows.
Run around the corridor, noting an alcove to the right with engraved pictures of Stalin. Around a couple of corners you'll find another large rusty girder blocking the way. As you climb over this, the door to the inner room opens releasing one of the guys inside. Shoot him and pick up a small medikit. Enter the inner building and shoot the man with the shotgun. Take his shells and pull the switch to open a door in the corridor outside.
Leave the inner building and find the open door on the left. You're outside in a yard surrounded by large industrial looking sheds. Walk toward the centre of the yard and jump on the small block on the left. Turn to look into the yard and take out the sniper on the roof opposite.
Next, shoot the sniper on the roofs on the far end of the yard. Jump back down to the ground and pick up the shotgun shells on the crate opposite. Between the buildings opposite the shotgun shells crate is another crate with M16 clips on top. As you approach this crate a Doberman appears, so shoot the dog, take the clips and grab the flares at the end of the gap. Explore the ground at the far end of the yard to find an unclimbable hill. Pick up some M16 clips and shoot another Doberman.
Head back to the small box opposite the shotgun shells crate and climb up to the roof next to it. Shoot the man with the club and the 2 crows that come flying in. Pick up shotgun shells from the dead man and then head for the gap between the buildings, (still on the roofs). Jump across the gap to the far end of the yard (opposite the big fan). As you near the large gateway with Stalin engraved on the wall, a man comes at you. Shoot him and pick up a small medikit from the corpse.
Head through the gateway and take a left turn to the barred windows. Look out of the left hand one to see a dog and a glimmer of gold. You'll be there soon enough - for now check out the two slopes nearby. One slope leads back to the ground level of the yard. The other slope leads back to the building with windows in the previous area. Exit back onto the roofs of the yard and head left. Enter the room with the sickle and CCCP over the door. It's gloomy in here but you should be able to see the doorway with the electrical circuit nearby.
You need to find a circuit board for it so continue around the yard on the rooftops. Pick up shotgun shells from the two dead snipers you shot earlier. About halfway along this side of the rooftops is a set of shells on its own. Pick them up to scare up another mercenary with a shotgun running straight at you. Take him out and then pick up a small medikit from the dead body. Continue into the short passage with the wooden floor near the fan end of the yard. Flip the switch here to open the gate nearby.
Enter the small room and shoot the dog that surprises you. Pick up the circuit board and head back to the room with the sickle and CCCP over the door. Use the circuit board on the electrical circuit near the doorway. It's very dark inside the new area, so throw a flare down, shoot the three rats (two in front and one to your left) and jump onto the nearby crate to retrieve the flares. Now load up your heaviest weapon and climb on the crate on the other side of the doorway. A nasty mercenary on a snowmobile will show up sooner or later.
Kill him as fast as you can and don't go looking for him if he runs away as he's only too willing to run you over in return. After killing the guy on the snowmobile, find the M16 clips behind a set of crates nearby and then head deeper into the room. Go over to the crates in the light and pick up the large medikit and the yellow passkey. Come off the crates and shoot the rats that show up. As you run back towards the entrance to the room, a guy with a club shows up. Pick up the small medikit from the body and head towards the two wooden ramps in the darker side of the room.
Find some Uzi clips tucked away near one of the ramps and then move on to a moveable box along the wall. Pull it out of the way to find some flares and an entrance to a sloping corridor - but don't go down there. Find the snowmobile and head back out to the rooftops of the yard. Head left towards the fan side of the yard and then turn around and wait for another snowmobile to appear. Shoot him, and then drive around the rooftops to the room with the Stalin faces. You'll probably not make it before another snowmobile shows up, so shoot him, and then continue down to the ground.
Head over to the fan and dismount. Climb up the steps and use the yellow pass key to open the door. Go through the door and pick up the yellow pass key. When you straighten up an angry man appears, so kill him and pick up the small medikit from the body. Go back to the snowmobile and you will get a vision of Stalin engraved on a wall. Drive the snowmobile to the other end of the yard, through the large doorway and up the ramp, through the Stalin room, and down the next ramp. You will find yourself in the room with the inner building with many windows.
Drive around the building, and find the small alcove on the right with the Stalin faces. Drive through and continue until you're behind the big fan. Dismount and climb over the girder to find a switch on the right hand wall of the slope beyond. Flip the switch to open the door at the top of the slope and release three Dobermans. When the way is clear, go through the gate and pick up Secret #2 - 3 gold bars. Return to the yard and drive through the open double doors just inside the yard at the opposite end to the fan. Drive around to the left, down a steep slope and up the other side. Around to the right you need to dismount when you reach a girder at the top of the second hill that you can climb up on.
Climb on the girder at the left end and on a ledge across the pool, a guy with a shotgun shoots out the windows. Return fire until he's dead and then drop into the pool. Swim around the central column and get out at the short side of the platform. Immediately draw a heavy weapon and shoot the guy in the yellow suit at the far end of the hall. Head down there and pick up the small medikit from the body. Light a flare and continue on to collect some flares. Return to the pool. Take a long running jump and grab to the climbing wall across the pool. Climb up and get into the room where the shotgun man was shooting at you from.
Pull the box to uncover two grenades. Picking these up opens a door in the opposite corner. Go through it and follow the small hall and pick up some more grenades. This action opens yet another door in the room. Go to the other side of the moveable box and follow the small hall to pick up the grenade launcher. Jump back in the pool, and pull the underwater switch to turn off the fan. Get some air, then swim through the fan and follow the underwater tunnel. Pick up 2 sets of pistol clips near where you come up for air. Before you leave the underwater tunnel, turn around to see a small ledge opposite the Stalin face.
Climb up on the ledge, kill a rat and pick up more pistol clips. Jump back in the water and go to the Stalin face, which opens as you approach. You find yourself high above the corridor you recently drove through. Safety drop down and run up the hill to pick up your snowmobile. Return to the yard and head to the room below the big fan. Go through the first room to the second. Enter and find the red passkey lock. You don't have the passkey needed to open it, so try pulling the switch on the other side of the door. Turn around to go back to your snowmobile and discover a goon with a shotgun blocking your way. Shoot him and pick up that missing red passkey. Use the red passkey to open the inner door. Then use the timed switch to open the outer door. Exit the building.
Turn left by the crate and enter the rock valley. Shoot the guys high up on the valley wall and then turn around and take out the second one. If you look up on the valley wall, where the first guy came from, you will see a path in the rock that leads to the top. Climb up to the top, and then do a careful jump to the rusty bridge.
Pick up the box of flares. Cross the bridge and shoot the two goons with shotguns that come out from hiding behind the crates. Look down on the other side of this platform, and pick off the guy with the shotgun down below. Find the crate with the large medikit on top. Pick it up to trigger a goon with a club that shows up from the building down below. Take him out when he reaches the rusty bridge and grab his small medikit. Back on the platform; find the moveable crates towards the back wall. Pull one of the crates and jump across to the nearby group of three. Two Dobermans turn up and need putting down. Drop back down and push the first crate away again, then move the next crate (at the end of the group of three, near the wall) until you uncover some grenades and 2 sets of Uzi clips.
Cross the rusty bridge to where you first picked up the flares and slide down the cliff to the right. Head over to the building here and enter it carefully. Inside the building, are many sets of barrels ready to roll down the slope and crush Lara. Trigger the barrels by entering the building a little, then leaping back or back flipping (do this all the way across the building). In between all of this shoot the 2 rats to your right. Stay along the wall near the valley and make your way down to the other end of the building and watch for the two men in the yellow suits on the other side of the barred windows.
Shoot them as they pass back and forth. If you are far enough away, the flames won't reach you. Shoot at least two more rats. Go out the door to the snow side of the valley and drop onto the step. From here, take a long running jump with grab to the rusty pillar and climb up. Immediately, turn around and shoot the goon with the club and the crow that comes flying in. Take a standing jump with grab to the rusty pillar by the building (away from the building with barrels). You should have already killed the shotgun man from above. Find the Uzi clips by the barred window on the building where you entered the valley.
Return to the first rusty pillar and look down towards the snowy end of the valley. See the rusty pillar with some goodies on top? Take a running jump towards it. You will miss, but you can easily jump around it to a flat spot next to it or side-step right to jump and grab from the high side of the snow. Climb up and collect the automatic pistol clips. Return to the building with barrels. Go up the slope (where the barrels came from) and light a flare. Look in the left corner for a pit. Drop down and use your passkey to open the grate over the water and open the doors in building. Swim down through underwater tunnel and climb out.
There is a flame thrower through the doors in the middle of the corridor. Take him out and then jump back in the water and swim around the bottom to collect a box of flares, a small medikit and 2 sets of Uzi clips. Find the exit opening (opposite the flame-thrower room) and head through it. Enter the narrow tunnel and listen to the guy running around on the higher ledge. Climb up on the rusty ledge to the right and back up in the corner. Now jump and shoot. Keep doing this until the guy on the upper ledge is dead. Climb up and pick up the M16 clips from one end of the passage, then drop down at the other end. Go through the dark area and into a huge cavern.
Walk to the edge of the deep pit and take a running jump to a flat spot along the left wall of the cave. Now drop down on the other side into a pillar near the corner of the cavern. Across the cavern in a high room is a dude with a shotgun – a perfect M16 target. Take him out and then look around you: Secret #3
- The golden mask - is in a pit just next to where you're standing. Return to the pillar and drop down to the bridge across the pit.
Two goons with clubs come from either side of the bridge and take great pleasure in knocking you off it, so use a good weapon (Grenade Launcher is good) to take them out. Take a diagonal running jump to the ledge on the other side of the bridge. Climb up to the high wooden room and pick up a small medikit and automatic pistol clips. Return to the bridge and kill the two crows that pester you on the way. Take a standing jump and grab to the climbing wall by the bridge. Climb down to the bottom of the ladder; you must take a backwards jump off the climbing ladder to land on edge of the deep pit in the dark.
Shoot the rats that appear and pick up the large medikit. Shoot several more rats. Walk to the edge of the deep pit and jump backwards onto the sliding ramp. Slide down and grab the edge of the ramp as you fall off. Drop to the ground below. Find the 3 sets of shotgun shells in the corner or the cavern and then head towards the skeletons. Light a flare to find the exit.
