Sacred Lake

Room with sandstone walls and dark green floor:

You are greeted with some music, but exit outside and things go downhill fast. Some bats to your right distract you while a crocodile sneaks up on your left. After you have finished off the crocs, look for a small medi-pack on the rocks.

Sacred Lake:

Wander down to the lake and take a couple of shots at the alligator swimming in the water. Continue south following the outer wall, then turn west and find a ramp that descends into the water. (Note: on the south wall near the ramp is a high crawlspace which you can ignore it for now.

The crawlspace leads to a tall obelisk surrounded by a square pool.  First you need to find some artefacts before you visit the obelisk with the square pool.)

Walk down the ramp to wake up the crocodiles. You may have to swim a bit to lure them out. Kill three crocodiles. Swim around to the north side of the lake until you find a 1 block wide ramp out of the lake that leads to nowhere. Near the bottom of the ramp, swim down to the bottom of the lake and find an underwater tunnel. Swim through an underwater tunnel and pick up some flares and a small medi-pack. Return back up to the lake.

Bat Building and Poles:

Wander around the perimeter of the lake until you find a building with torches. Bats! Clear the vermin out of the air, then carefully walk down the centre of the building and drop down the hole that is under the torch.

Make your way down until you see the pole. Slide down the ramp and land at the foot of the pole. Climb up the pole until you are near the other pole.

Line up your back with the higher pole by using the arrow keys, and then do a backwards jump from the pole.

(Note: it always is better to be a bit lower than being too high when doing a backwards jump.)

Climb up the higher pole and turn your back to the high ledge. Do a backwards jump. Climb into the crawlspace using the Crawl key. Crawl your way to the next room with a jewelled chain.

Room with Jewelled Chain:

Pull the jewelled chain using the Action key to open the barred gate at the bottom of the lake. Make your way back to the high pole via the crawlspace. Take a standing jump grab to the high pole and slide down.

Take a standing jump grab to the lower pole and slide down. Run into the deep hole behind the pole and swim back to the lake. The gate you opened also released a crocodile who is now waiting for you, so find the skinny ramp, climb out and shoot the crocodile. Wait a bit on the ramp for the second crocodile.

Central lake in building with open gate:

Now that the gate is open, swim to the lake in the building. Climb out and jump around the edges of the lake to pick up a small medi-pack and two sets of red shotgun shells.  Swim under water and look for an underwater switch (underneath the blocks between the two places you can climb out of the water).

Pull the switch using the Action key to open a door in the middle of the lake. Swim through the now open underwater door.

Use Action to open the door in the underwater tunnel. Come back up for air and save your game. Now swim down through the now open door and navigate your way through maze. Take a left (south) at the first fork, then swim upwards at the next fork and find the underwater mirror room.

Underwater Mirror Room:

In the sacred lake level in the underwater mirror room you need to look at the reflection of the ceiling in the mirror to find the way out of the room.  It easy to miss and I wandered around for hour before finally finding it.

OR

You can swim around the ceiling until Lara's head pokes through.  Climb out and pick up the Canopic Jar 2 (the one you needed back in the Temple of Karnak). Pick up some Uzi clips, then swim back to the central lake.

If you need some air when exploring the underwater room, swim back down to the first fork, take the  fork goes west and slants up to reach the air chamber, the north fork goes back to the lake. Swim up the narrow west fork and stay near the ceiling of the narrow tunnel. Swim up and find yourself in a room with air and a large medi-pack.

Large underwater tunnel in central lake:

Get some air, then swim down the large underwater tunnel. The gate is now open.

Returning to Sacred Lake 2:

First you need to find some artefacts before you visit the obelisk with the square pool. So just go to Temple of Karnak. If you missed something on the second part of Sacred Lake, you can go to this high crawlspace on the south wall near the ramp.  The crawlspace leads to a tall obelisk surrounded by a square pool.
