Lost Library

Chamber with many doors:

Looks familiar! Was in the PC demo. But the game and the demo are totally different.

Room with curtains and two tin men:

From the main hall, take the first door on the left (when facing the big doors). Shoot a vase in the hall and pick up a small medi-pack.

Enter the next room and meet the tin men!

The Tin Men:

Shoot them many times in the jewels. When they are hit, you will hear them grunt. Hopping backwards while shooting works quite well.  Find a place where you can hop backwards in a straight line for quite a while shooting the tin men. When you reach a wall, jump over the tin men, roll and start hopping backwards again.  I did not see a huge difference between guns; pistols work just fine.

Room with curtains and two tin men:

After you are done killing the tin men, notice the invisible scroll and shoot the vase. (This is a bug; the scroll becomes visible later and you can pick it up.) All for now, go back to the main hall.

Room with pole and spinning blades:

From the main hall, take the middle door on the left (when facing the big doors). Beneath the pole is a nasty looking spinning blade. Take my word that you will be back to this pole again, so just slide down the pole all the way to the bottom as fast as you can.  Follow the hall to another pole. Wait until the blade is past where you are going to jump.  Jump up, grab, and then pull up into the next room.

Spinning blades hints:

While you descend you take a lot of damage. Try this, after you descend past the first one, and are halfway through the next hole, you can do a back jump to the floor. Break the vase for things. Now you can reach the rest of the levels without using the pole.  Align yourself parallel with a side of the square hole. When the blade goes to the other side, just jump from a little far from the border. You'll jump cleanly to the next level without damage. Break the vase. Repeat. At the last blade just fall vertically.

When you come to the single blade at the end of the tunnel don't use the pole. A vertical jump against the wall, hang, upwards and off you go without taking damage.

Gear room with swinging chains:

Here comes a tin man! I spent a lot of time running around with the chains with the tin men chasing me before I learned that the tin man could be killed. This room is a lot less threatening if the tin man is dead and no longer hacking poor Lara to bits. Kill the tin man.  Pry out the Golden Star that is in the first room with the gears using the crow bar.

As you enter the room, there is a large gear on the left side of the room. Health-wise, this makes no sense! Lower yourself over the edge into the gear pit on the side which is near the wall. Climb down and continue going down until you reach Secret #1! Pick up a small medi-pack, revolver ammo and Uzi clips. Carefully make your way through the swinging chains until you find a dark square on the floor near the gears. (Note if the tin man is after you, standing on this dark square keeps you safe, and you can shoot the tin man easily.)

Open the trap door in the floor. Stand near the square (not on it) and face the wall and the dark square. Press the Action key and you can open the trap door. Take a swim.

Underwater chamber beneath Gear room:

You can get some air at the centre top of the chamber. Lara seems to get kind of stuck, so try turning her the other way to grab some air.  You will discover another trap door which is in the other room with the swinging chains. Not much you can do now, so return to the room with gears where you first climbed up the pole.

Gear room with swinging chains:

Find the pillar where you pried out the star. Look around for a climbing ladder on one of the pillars near the pillar with the star. Climb up and find the room with the pole. Jump to the pole and slide down.

Room with door:

Another tin man! Kill him and then explore. Notice the door with a receptacle. Enter the next room and find another tin man. In the far room, you will find a hole in the floor with a climbing ladder, climb down.

Go through the crawlspace.

Horseman's Hideout:

A horse statue how nice! Unfortunately, one of those darn tin men decides to ride the horse to make your life a living hell.  One method to kill the horseman is to do side flips and shoot knowing that each time he grunts you have scored a direct hit. Once you have shot him a while, he will dismount and come after you. Use the tin man tricks to kill him.

Pick up the Horseman's Gem after he is dead.

OR

Get the secret while the horseman is after you. Climb up in the alcove and let the horseman run around until he gets stuck in a corner.

Side-step next to him until you can shoot him in the green gem. Keep shooting until the tin man dismounts. Then kill the tin man in the usual fashion. In the room farthest from the entrance is a mechanical device with a ball. If the horseman is after you, get your crossbow with the explosive ammo. Shoot the ball which opens the door.  Climb up into the alcove - Secret#2.  Pick up a large medi-pack, red shotgun shells and Uzi clips.

Return to the crawlspace and climb up the climbing ladder.

Room with door:

Find the door and place the Horseman's Gem in the receptacle by the door. Enter the room and pull the jewelled chain to open the door in the underwater chamber. Find the pole and climb up. Make your way down to the floor of the room with gears and swinging chains.

Room with gear and swinging chains:

Make your way through the swinging chains back to the back room with the gear and trap door. Swim down into the underwater chamber through the now open door. Pry out 2 more Golden Stars. Make your way back to room with the gears and the swinging chains. Find the pole where you first entered.

Drop down into the hole and follow the hall to the next pole.

Climb up through rotating blades.

You get to climb back up through the rotating blades. Not much fun.  Wait for the blade to start around the opposite side. Do a jump grab, scoot up a little and then do a back flip.  Shoot the vases and pick up red shotgun shells and a well deserved large medi-pack. For the next level up the pole. Line up with the pole in the middle of the block. Take one walking step back.  Wait until the blade is on the other side using the look key.

Take a standing jump with grab and immediately back flip to the higher ledge. Shoot the vase and pick up a small medi-pack. You made it.  Return to the main chamber with all of the doors.

Room with fire demons:

From the main hall, take the middle door on the right (when facing the big doors).  Enter a room with two red fire demons. Run down the hall to the right and jump into the pool to kill the fire demons. Climb out of the pool and shoot the vase. Nothing there, but Lara seems very interested in the ramp high in the wall. Shoot all the vases and return to the main hall with all of the doors.

Room with circles on the floor:

From the main hall, take the last door on the right (when facing the big doors).  Enter a room with circles on the floor. Pull the globe in the corner of the room to the centre circle.

If done right, a small white orb will appear on the top of the globe. Use the Golden Stars to open the doors to the other globes. Try each globe on one of the circles until you get the right globe on the right circle.

Second inner circle: Blue/Green

Third inner circle: Green

Next to outside circle: Red

Outside circle: Yellow

Electricity will crackle to all of the globes and the red/gold circle on the wall. A door opens under the red/gold circle. Go through the door.

Run down the hall and shoot the vase to pick up a large medi-pack. By the green door, shoot another vase and pick up blue shotgun shells. Open the green door.

Then go down the hall to the Serpent room.

Serpent Room:

If we had the invisible Scroll from the earlier room, it would say push all the levers down to turn on all the serpent's flames.  First make sure all the levers are up.  If they are not, go to the square with the star to shut off all of the flames, then run around and push all the levers down. The stone in the centre of the room will rise.

Climb up on the centre stone and do a jump grab to the overhead ledge. Climb up, go past the pool and enter the library from the demo.

Lost Library to top floor:

Not much here. You can climb up the ladder and shoot some vases.  Climb back down and wind your way through the library until you find some doors to push open. You are now on the second floor.

Room with harp (top floor):

From the main hall, open the door on the left closest to the big doors. (When facing the big doors). Shoot the vase in the hall and pick up some Uzi clips. Not much here. Return to the main hall.

Room with two lions mouths:

From the main hall, open the first door on the right - farthest from the big doors. (When facing the big doors).  Slide down the ramp and do a standing jump grab to a climbing ladder.  You can climb up to the top. Look to the right and see a lower ledge near the right wall. Take a long running jump to the lower ledge.  Secret #3!

Pick up crossbow ammo and a large medi-pack.

If you miss the ladder and end up on the floor a movie shows you a boulder up a slope, so as soon as you hit the deck turn left and climb on top of the block so you don't get splatted.

Start exploring and find a tin man. Shoot the tin man and continue exploring. Walk up to the top of the ramp and look to the left.  When you walk on the ramp, another steel ball flies overhead. Do a standing jump grab to the switch high on the wall. This raises a pillar in front of the other lion head. You can do a jump grab to the lion's nose and then drop and crawl up into the mouth, but you cannot crawl through the small opening.

Go back up on top of the pillar and face the nearby lion's head.  Look to the right and you will see (or may not see) a ledge high up on the wall.

Take a long running jump with grab to the ledge. Then make your way up to near the top of the ceiling. From the opening in the wall near the ceiling, take a long running jump to the very top of the lion's head near the wall. Pull the chain (which makes the opening in the mouth bigger).

Slide down the nose and drop to the mouth. (Action let go and press it again.) Crawl up into the mouth and now you can get through.  Climb up the pole and backwards jump to the ledge. Run to the door with the high ledge to make it open. Then go through the door even with the floor.

Room with flames:

Near the entrance to the room, pick up the Torch on the floor. Step on the grate to light the burners. Carefully walk forward, one step at a time, towards the burner, try using the Action key at each step to light the torch. And avoid lighting Lara. Run down the hall to the wooden floor. Use the Draw Guns key to throw the torch on the wooden floor. (If you miss, pick it up and try again.) The floor will burn and drop away. Drop down to the floor below. (Make sure your health is up as you will lose some health.)

Room below wooden floor:

Lara seems to be fixated by a scroll on the floor, so pick it up and get yourself the Music Scroll. Shoot the vase and pick up red shotgun shells. Not much else, so climb out the hole in the wall and open the doors to find yourself on the bottom floor of the main hall.

Room with curtains and two tin men:

From the main hall, take the first door on the left (when facing the big doors). Go into the room and pick up the Fire Circle Scroll. A bit late to help!

Getting back to the top floor of the main hall.  Take the door closest to the big doors on the left side of the room (when facing the big doors.) Go to the serpent room (straight ahead); climb up on the pillar and wind your way back through the library to the top floor of the hall.

Room with fire demons:

Top floor - Take the door on the right side of the room closest to the big doors (when facing the big doors.)  Fire demons! You need to take these guys to the room below you where you killed the first fire demons.

Find the trap door on the floor. Open the trap door and then climb down the climbing ladder pressing and releasing Action key to drop faster. Run to the room with the pool and extinguish the fire demon. Climb back up the ladder and pick up the Pharos Pillar from the pedestal. Be sure to pick up the Pharos Pillar! OR Run into the room and either take the hall to the right and lead them to the room with the burnt out floor. Drop down and then take the middle door on the bottom floor on this side.  Lead the fire demons on a merry chase back to the pool where you killed the first fire demons.

Room with harp (top floor):

From the main hall, go to the door on the left closest to the big doors. (When facing the big doors). Go to the music stand by the harp and place the Music Scroll on the stand. Lara plays the music and a door opens. Go through the open door and find yourself on the balcony by the big doors.

Pull the jewelled chain to open the big doors. Jump over the balcony losing some health. Go through the big doors and find yourself in the Hall of Demetrius.
