Level 24
Citadel Gate
The beginning:
You begin the level by beating the Minotaur in Chambers of Tulan. Walk down the hallway and drop down into the room below with an injured soldier.
Movie:
Lara kneels down by an injured soldier.
Soldier: What in God's name has happened here? Where are the rest of my men?
Lara: I banged into a couple of them. They appeared to have sealed off all of the exits.
Soldier: Yes, yes... This, this is good. You must help us to, to, to, (cough, gag) to liberate the city.
Lara: I am just here for directions. I need a route to the Citadel.
Soldier: This is not so good. This is where the main activity takes place.
Lara: Activity?
Soldier: We encountered it as the skies began to darken. A creature of our ancient past. I tore through my men like a firestorm. I managed to station an ammunition truck before the beast had a mind to ignite the explosive device area. But with renewed vigour, it forced us back.
It was as if it knew of our plans.
Lara: Beast or no beast, Sarge. I've got to get in that building.
Soldier: You have spirit. Perhaps... As we retreated, we have mined
Some of the streets to prevent contamination. Two of my men are still in the
Area out of the northern cemetery. One of them holds the frequency for
The mine detector. The other holds the second half of the code for the explosive device.
Lara: And if I find them?
Soldier: Tell them that Sergeant Assisus sent you. I heard your motorbike, once you have the codes, take me on it to the ammunition truck. I shall eradicate the blockage. But hurry, for I am not long of this world.
Near Soldier:
Near the soldier, pick up some revolver ammo, then continue down the hall until you hear the screeches of a very mad nasty beast - the dragon.
The Dragon:
On the left side of the dragon you can pick up a large medi-pack where you are protected by a low wall. You cannot do anything. Time a dash or sprint to get past the dragon.
Run until you see some clothes hanging out to dry above the street. Kill the bats. And then have some hot chocolate to calm down. After you have recovered, continue down the road until you get to the pit.
The Pit:
Not much you can do now. So return to the area with the clothes drying overhead in the street, look around for an opening in the wall.
Climb through the opening.
Crocodile Alley:
Check out the low crawlspace at the end of the street and a crocodile comes running out at you. Back flip shooting and you can go to the opening in the wall and shoot it. Approach the crawlspace again and shoot another crocodile. Get your nerves up and crawl into the crawlspace. Pick up revolver ammo and crossbow ammo. Near the crocodile crawlspace, look for a ledge that you can climb up in the wall. Drop down into the room.
Room with two coffins:
Tip to solving the codes: Before you drop down into the room with the coffins from Crocodile Alley and the room, look up high on the opposite wall and spy four signs with numbers. The fourth is hidden by a box, but Lara can shoot it away (Magnum or Crossbow).
NOTE: IF YOU SHOOT THE BOX COVERING THE CODE, IT MIGHT BE IN THE WAY OF GETTING THE SECRET.
Now you have the key to understand the codes which are written on the coffins. These signs tells you, which levers you have to pull to open the coffins.
Don't want to solve the codes? Then flip the three switches which moves one of the coffins to reveal a hole in the floor. Drop down into the hole and use the crowbar to move another switch which opens a door in the wall.
Find the short ledge in the corner of the room and do a jump grab to the overhead ledge. Climb up on the ledge and flip the switch to move the other coffin. Drop into the hole in the floor by the coffin and flip another switch and release locusts. The door in the room is now open.
Enter the doorway and kill two bats. Go up the tunnel and go through some more locusts and kill two more bats. You are now up by the rope.
The rope:
Do a save here first.
Take a long running jump with grab to the rope. From the rope, take a swing to the bell on the right. Aim for the corner of the high ledge above the rope that is closest to the bell. A bat pesters you as you jump. Land by the bell. Drop down over the edge, then let go and immediately press the Action key to drop the crawlspace below the bell.
Crawl in for Secret#1 a large medi-pack and crossbow ammo. Drop to the floor below and repeat the trip to the rope.
From the ledge by the rope, jump to the rope and then swing straight across to the ledge on the opposite building.
High above the streets:
Take a long running jump to the striped awning watching out for the arch overhead. Then take a diagonal standing jump grab to the higher ledge. Kill the wasp. Then take a diagonal long running jump grab to the ledge on the other side of the street opposite the climbing ladder.
Normal play:
From the ledge opposite the climbing ladder, do a standing jump with grab. Get Lara in the climbing mode and climb around the corner. Climb down so you are at least one block away from the top of the climbing ladder. Now do a back flip to land on the ledge behind you. Kill the wasp, and then take a long running jump with grab to the crack in the wall across the street. OR you take a standing jump grab to the monkey bars, swing across, and then drop to the crack. Shimmy over and climb up using the crawl key and pick up a small medi-pack.
Alternative route:
Take a standing jump grab to the climbing ladder. Climb up and to the left as far as possible. Do a back flip and press the left arrow while in the air. Land on the higher slanted block and immediately do a front-wards jump to land on the high ledge. This looks like a secret they decided not to include. You can jump to one more ledges at the top of the world. Then take a long running jump to the platform below the small medi-pack, pull up and get the health pack.
Normal play:
Drop down to the ledge below. Take a long running jump to the lower awning across the street. Finally, take a long running jump with grab to the hole in the wall at the end of the street. Walk down the tunnel until you reach the pit. Shoot the bat.
The Pit:
From the tunnel above the pit, take one step sideways away from the right wall. Line up a jump to the ledge by the overturned Army truck. Land and shoot the two overgrown wasps that appear. Run behind the truck avoiding the fire and pick up the Nitrous Oxide canister. Take a long running jump across the pit towards the yellow car.
Follow the street to where the dragon is.
Use the dash key to get past the dragon and return to the soldier.
OR
Locust Alley:
Locust alley is permanently filled with locusts. There is a high crawlspace in the wall on the left just before you enter the dragon area.
Unofficial Secret- this is not a secret, but it should be a secret. You may want to skip these goodies because you will probably use two or three large medi-packs to get them. Crawl into the crawl space and drop down on the other side. Light a flare and find the crossbow ammo and a large medi-pack. Run down the dark tunnel, find another crawlspace. Do a roll after the crawlspace and run back to the soldier and another horde of locusts.
Approach the soldier.
Movie:
Soldier: Your bike will need modification to clear some of the larger obstacles. Nitrous Oxide connected to the carburettor should give you the extra punch. Go! Bring me the codes!
By the soldier:
Do a jump grab to the high ledge in the corner. Run back to the Chamber of Tulan and the Minotaur.
Chambers of Tulan:
Ledge above the Minotaur:
Go down the ladder and go to the opposite end away from the ladder. Look for a hole in the ceiling. Do a jump and grab and slide down the ramp. Dash down the road to the entrance to the Chamber of Tulan, find your motorbike.
Take the road to the Trenches.
