The Sphinx Complex

Road with wooden fence:

Run down the road towards the doors that say Do Not Enter! Shoot the two baddies guarding the door. One drops the Silver Key before he fades away. Use the Silver Key to open the small door. Enter the new area.

Area with deep pits near two levers:

Use the old jump and shoot at the top of the jump trick to take out the two baddies. Near the door, look in the alcoves on both sides of the room and pick up a small medi-pack and red shotgun shells. Take long running jumps across the pit to push one lever and then do the same for the other lever on the other side of the room. Activating the two levers opens the door and releases a red and black Ninja. To defeat him, just holster your guns to make him stop swinging his blades, then immediately draw the guns again to shoot him.

Desert around the Sphinx:

Enter the desert around the sphinx. Look up and you will see a great sphinx surrounded by desert with many excavation pits.

North Pit on right side of Sphinx near the door to the two levers:

Facing north by the door to the two levers, slide down on the slope ramp on the right side of the pit. Take a simple jump to the ledge on the left side of the pit. Now take a diagonal long running jump with grab to the flat spot in the sand on the centre north side of the pit.

Pit north of the wooden door:

Take a simple jump to the ledge with the large medi-pack. This triggers a baddie on the other side of the pit. After shooting him, take a diagonal long running jump to the north east side of the pit.

Building with small door:

Kick open the small door. Now shoot the wooden crates and pick up the Uzi clips. Pull the shelf away from a grated crawlspace. This gets a bit tricky. You need to blow the grate away with an explosive arrow.  There is a second grate at the other end of the crawlspace. In the room outside of the crawlspace, draw your pistols and crouch shooting down the crawlspace at the second grate.  A thug is waiting for you as you emerge from the crawlspace, so shoot him.

Pick up the red shotgun shells by the door button. Shoot all of the crates and pick up the Metal Blade (looks kind of like a shovel). Pull and push one shelf up against the crawlspace. Pull the remaining shelf away from the wall. Go near the wall and look what you have uncovered, pick up the Shotgun for Secret #1 (really, just more ammo). Push the button on the right side of the door to open the door. Two guys in blue wait outside the door. Shoot them then return back across the pits to the door which goes to the area with two levers.

Pit south of door to area with two levers:

Facing south near the door with two levers, slide down to the ledge on the left side of the pit. Take a long running jump to the left ledge on the other side of the pit. Now take a long running jump to the ledge on the right side of the pit. A simple jump to get over the slope ramp.

South end of the Sphinx:

Explore a bit and soon you will notice that a white stone catches Lara's eye between the legs of the Sphinx. Run over to the white stone.

Movie:

Lara kneels and reads the stone. "The inscription reads ... One night, in dreaming, came to me, the spirit of the Sphinx. In his passing, he spoke on to me words of great wisdom. Thutmose Here is your true destiny.  This land of Egypt is forever yours to rule. In return, protect me always from the sands of time. As you are, I must be free from head to toe. So that we both may see the divine beauty of creation."

Pit on West side of Sphinx:

You can make your way around the pit either on the left or right side. The shortcut is on the right side. Save your game. Take a simple jump to the lower ledge on the right side of the pit. This is a narrow ledge.  CAREFULLY line up along running jump to the ledge on the right side at the far side of the pit. Make sure that the start and end of your run forward does not hit a slanted block.

Immediately climb up as the two Ninjas come running with deadly intentions. (Note you can pick these guys off with arrows or the revolver before you get to the last ledge.) Get out your pistols and shoot up the crates. Pick up the Wooden Handle.

To return to the white stone by the Sphinx.

Climb on the short block by the sphinx's leg near the doors that say Do Not Enter. Do a simple jump over the ramp on the leg and you are on top of the sphinx’s leg, walk to the end of the leg pick up blue shotgun ammo. Slide down the leg and land back by the white stone.

OR

(Not as good) To get back across the pit, stay along the left wall, and take a long running jump to the narrow ledge. Go to the end of the narrow ledge as far as you can walk. Do a simple jump over the slanted block. This was difficult; I aimed for where two floor blocks joined together. You can visit the metal doors on the other side of the pit, but there is nothing there.

White stone with inscription between the sphinx's legs:

Combine your Wooden Handle and Metal Blade to make a handy dandy shovel. But where are you supposed to dig? Find the white stone and look for a depression with mud. Start your digging there. Lara will dig a big hole. Drop down the hole and run to the blackness.

The Gold Doors:

In the south-west corner are some gold doors. You will get to them after completing inside Menkaures Pyramid. There is a very small portion of the Sphinx Complex explained in level for Inside Menkaures Pyramid.  You need to complete some other levels before you will come back to the Sphinx Complex.

This is essentially the end of the level for game play.
