Training

Alley - Opera Backstage Door:

From the alley, enter the door with the Opera Backstage sign.

Room with forklift and crate:

Climb up onto the crate at the centre of the room. Continue climbing up crates until you reach the very top ledge. WALK to the other end of the ledge to avoid repeating the trip. Do a simple jump to the next ledge.

Suspended crate room:

Enter the next room and take a long running jump across the gap to the wooden floor. Enter the next room.

Room with stacked crates:

Take a long running jump with grab across the first gap. Run (or walk) around the ledges, and line up a simple jump across the gap.

Long running jump with grab: Walk to the edge, leap back, then use the up arrow to start running forward, just after Lara starts running, press both the Jump key and the Action/Grab key.  Once Lara has grabbed the ledge, continue holding down the Action key, release the Jump key and press the Up arrow to climb up.

Suspended crate room:

Do a jump with grab to the overhead monkey bars and cross the room. Drop down on the ledge on the other side. Climb the climbing ladder on the wall and climb around the corner by using the right arrow.

Don't start crawling through the hole by the yellow ledge just yet. Look back at the room and notice some goodies at the other end. Take a simple jump to the top of the structure above the suspended crate, walk to the other end and pick up flares and a large medi-pack. To get the medi-pack, press the Crawl key to crouch and then crawl in the cubby hole. Crawl over the medi-pack, and use the Action key to pick it up, crawl back out and turn to your left to see a small medi-pack on the structure so jump over and pick it up, then return back to the main walkway. Walk across the structure and look at the ceiling. Do a standing jump with grab to the block shaped structure below the hole in the ceiling. Oops, nothing there, so do a jump grab to the monkey bars and drop to the structure above the suspended crate. Use a simple diagonal jump to get back to the yellow ledge, and crawl through the crawlspace

Room with forklift and crate:

Drop down from the crawlspace to the ledge with the lever. Pull the switch to open a door next to the lever.

Room with stairs:

Enter the room and climb the crates stacked in the far left corner. Take a long running jump with grab to the platform with the swimming pool. Swim down the underwater tunnel until you reach another pool.

Deep pool:

Swim to the surface and get some air. Now swim to the bottom and find the underwater tunnel. Follow the tunnel until it ends. Climb out and pick up blue shotgun shells, red shotgun shells and a large medi-pack. Return to the deep pool and swim to the surface. Climb out of the water and follow the tunnel.

Tightrope: Walk next to the tight rope. Hold down the Action key and wait for Lara to step onto the tight rope. Use the up arrow to go forward, and use little taps on the right and left arrow keys to keep Lara balanced.

Never leave an area unexplored, so after crossing the tightrope, climb down the crates to the floor beneath the tightrope and find the room with shelves.

Room with shelves below the tightrope:

Explore the slender shelves for goodies.  Pick up Flares from one of the slender shelves.  Find the wide shelf and stand next to the shelf, near the centre of the shelf. Press the action key + up arrow to push the shelf into the recess. Pick up Revolver Ammo. Find the other wide shelf, and keep pushing the shelf into the recess until it won't push any further. Aha! The shelf was hiding another opening.

Enter the opening that had been hidden by the shelf. Pick up the Uzi clips in the corner and search the shelf to find Secret #1 a gold rose.

Return to the tightrope and continue your exploration.

Room with shelves, near the tightrope (upper level):

Explore the shelves and find a small medi-pack. Continue through the opening and follow the tunnel until you reach a lever. Pull down the switch to open the door.

Room with forklift and crate:

Back to the room with the forklift. You have finished this part of the level, so climb down the crates to the floor and find the opening to the alley, and you are back where you started.

End of Training Area

Alley - courtyard with fountain:

Explore the rest of the alley until you reach the courtyard with the fountain. As soon as you hear the sound of danger, jump up onto the fountain as a Doberman is coming straight at you, shoot it with your pistols in safety.

Hmm, a locked gate that needs a key...  Find the corridor near the red and white overhead awning. At the end of the corridor, reach into the opening in the engraved face on the red wall using the Action key. This raises a gate near another engraved face. 

Return to the alley.

Alley - room with moss covered opening

From the alley, find the area with the moss covered opening (opening is near the entrance to the courtyard with the fountain). Find the engraved face in the wall behind the moss, and reach into opening in the face (using Action). This releases bats and raises a block behind you.  While getting bit by the bats, climb up on the block, and they should go away. Climb up to the ledge with the arches. Look behind and spy a small medi-pack on a high ledge to the left. Take a diagonal long running jump to the ledge and pick up a small medi-pack. Return to the ledge with the arches.

Diagonal long running jump: Line up a diagonal jump from the ledge with the arches. Stand in the centre of the arch near the edge of the ledge. Use the look key and centre top of Lara's head to line up the jump. Leap back, then start running forward (up arrow), add the Jump key just after Lara starts running.

Follow the hallway up to a living room and go outside to a patio. Continue across the high ledge to the small opening and drop to the hall below.

Hall with windows:

Ignore the goodies in the windows for now, and follow the hallway to the lower level.

Room with stairs and door:

A Doberman attacks, so jump backwards and forwards while shooting to kill it. Open the grey doors using the Action key.  Yikes, another Doberman to kill, so flip backwards while shooting. Enter the room with the barrel and pick up a large medi-pack. Climb up on the nearby crate and pick up blue shotgun shells. Return to the room with the stairs, and follow the hall to the switch. Flip the switch to open a gate that leads back to the courtyard with the fountain, but what about those goodies in the hall with windows? Return to the room with the stairs and return to the hall with the windows.

Hall with windows:

Run back to the end of the hall and shoot the window at the far end of the hall and pick up revolver ammo. Return back down the hall, shoot out the next window and pick up a small medi-pack. Jump and shoot the window by the stairs. Climb up to the window by the stairs and do a simple jump across the gap to the hall. Take the opening on the left and continue to the top until you find Golden Key

This time follow the hallway up to the roof. A cut scene shows a Doberman waiting for you in the courtyard with the fountain and shows the lock in the courtyard. Notice the flares below on the red and white awning. Stand next to the railing and leap back once, now take a standing jump over the railing to the awning below. Pick up the Flares. Use a simple jump to the centre of the fountain. If you don't fall off, you can safely shoot the waiting Doberman from the fountain.

Courtyard with fountain:

You have a key for the lock, so use it. Stand next to the lock, press Esc to access your backpack goodies. Use the left and right arrows to find the Golden Key and then press Enter to use the key. Enter the hall behind the gate.

Courtyard with palm trees:

Larson is not happy to see you. Shoot at Larson to make him run away, trembling with fear. Explore the courtyard and find a small medi-pack in one corner. Enter the hall at the other end of the courtyard and take the hall on the left that descends. Find the Garden Key among the crates. Now follow the hallway to the top. Larson is taking pot shots at you again, so fill him full of lead and send him on his way.  Cross the tightrope that is above the courtyard. Drop from the ledge to the street below.

Street:

Flip the switch to open the gate back to the courtyard with the fountains. Then return to the street and explore. Find the courtyard with palm trees, which has two receptacles for the Garden Keys. Now you have to go and find the other Garden Key. Run to the other end of the street going past the gate to the courtyard to the fountain. At the end of the street enter a small room, and follow the dark hallway. Shoot your pistols for light and enter the hall on the left. In the small room with the wooden gate, pick up revolver ammo and notice the locked wooden gate.  Return to the long hall and take a left. Run up the stairs and pick up the Revolver. Go up the ramp and open the doors at the top of the ramp.

Room with barrels

Pick up the laser sight from the corner. Combine the revolver with the laser sight and shoot the lock on the wooden gate. Aim for the hasp on the lock. The gate opens and pick up the second Garden Key. Rats everywhere, so run back down the hall back to the street. Run to the other end of the street and enter the courtyard with palm trees.

Courtyard with palm trees:

Place the two Garden keys into their receptacles using the Action key. This opens a gate between the street and the area around the building with the three dragons. Enter the area around the building with the three dragon heads.

Building with three dragon heads:

Jump into the murky pool and swim around to discover nothing! Ah well, proceed to the building with the dragon heads.

Cut scene with Larson and Pierre:

Lara approaches the receptacles beneath the dragon heads. She places a key in one of the receptacles. She hears a sound, draws her pistols aiming at the roof. Lara: "Rodent, I wouldn't wonder. Big Rodents!" On the roof, Pierre helps Larson up muttering, "Imbecile!" Larson shoots a Lara, but Pierre knocks his gun away. Larson bewildered says "What?”  Pierre retorts, "Idiot! Idiot! What does the cowboy hope to achieve by this mindless firing." Larson smugly replies, "Ain't mindless. Ain't we trying to kill her anymore then?" Exasperated, Pierre, says, "You were kicked in the head by a horse? Oui? The brain doesn't work correctly?" Larson sheepishly admits, "How'd you know about that?" Pierre, "Never mind, Never mind. We wait until she collects the other pieces. In this fashion, we have the full prize at no extra effort." Larson replies, "You is one clever cookie, Boss." Pierre, "Comparatively, yes. Come let's get off this roof, and I will buy you a milkshake."

After the cut scene, find the hallway on the right side of the dragon building. Follow it up, and a cut scene appears showing a bell. On reaching the building with the bell, Lara just can't keep her eyes off of the bell, so go on up and have a look.

Building with the bell:

At the top of the building, pick up another Laser sight and revolver ammo near the bell. Hmm, how about shooting the bell? Use the revolver with the laser sight to shoot the bell. This opens a gate in the wall near the top of the building. But before getting too involved with all of these doors, let's go on a detour.

Rooftop detour:

Time to explore the rooftops. Take a long running jump to the high wall, which encloses the building with the bell. Follow the top of the wall until you are near the flat red roof. Take a diagonal long running jump to the red roof. Run along the top of the red roof and take a long running jump to the building with the pillars. Pick up revolver ammo and a large medi-pack. Return to the high wall, which encloses the building with the bell.

Now go back down to the building with the dragons.

OR

You can search the other rooftops. From the high wall near the bell building, take a simple jump to the large grey roof below (near the palm trees). You will lose some health. Take a diagonal simple jump to the lower wall and then safety drop to the ground. Oops, no goodies yet, but as long as we are down here....

From the building with the dragon, go out to the street and take a right and enter the building at the end of the street.  In the dark area of the hall, take the hallway on the left and find the room with the locked wooden gate. Aha, the door is now open and is guarded by a Doberman. Enter the room and search the shelves. Pick up a large medi-pack and Secret #2 - a gold rose. Now go back to the street to the hall to the right of the dragon building and return to the top of the building with the bell.

Building with the bell:

Shooting the bell opened a gate in the wall near the top of the building. Use a long running jump with grab to get across the gap. Bats everywhere, so hurry up and reach into the engraved face on the wall and activate it to open a door below the bell.

Blackbird room:

At the top of the building with the bell, enter the door below the bell. Take the hallway to the left of the birds and flip the switch. An explosion and the ugly blackbird is now a white dove. Return to the white dove and use the Action key to turn the white dove. This activates the overhead swinging ram. Enter the hallway to the right of the birds. Follow the hallway up until you reach the swinging ram. You now need swing by your hands around the ledge under the ram. With your back facing the edge of the ledge, walk sideways out on the ledge. Now safety drop over the edge of the ledge. Swing around the ledge going around corners until you can climb up. Pull the switch to turn the blackbird into a white dove. Do a safety drop to the floor, and use the Action key to turn the white dove pedestal, which opens a door in the building with the bell.

Before finding the gate you just opened, return to the room with the bats, which is the first gate you opened by shooting the bell. Two small cubby holes are now revealed. Pick up a small medi-pack and Secret #3 - a gold rose.

Building with the bell:

Find the lower centre gate open and pick up the Saturn Symbol.

Cut scene:

Lara appears near the dragon building and peers around the corner and sees Pierre. She draws her guns aiming at Pierre. Pierre says, " Come, come, Lara, we are all friends here." and snaps his fingers. Larson sneaks up behind Lara and cocks his gun aiming it at Lara's head.  Larson: "Begging your pardon, ma'am, but if you would like to put those pea shooters away." Larson pushes Lara towards Pierre, and Pierre asks, "The second stone if you please, Miss Croft." Lara replies "Come and get it." Annoyed, Pierre replies, "Hmmm, it is a bit late in the evening for these games. Larson, search her if you please." Gleeful, Larson with his Texas drawl, "Well, if I don't get all the best jobs." Larson searches Lara, running his hand up her leg. Not very pleased about this treatment, Lara says, "You want to try the back pockets?" As Larson reaches for Lara's back pockets, Lara quickly knees him where it counts, and Larson falls back in pain. Pierre is exasperated "Enough, enough, my patience is exhausted with this childish nonsense. The stone, Miss Croft." Lara pulls it from her backpack "If you put this into that gate, Pierre, you're going to get a lot more than you bargained for. Trust me." Larson sneers, "I'll put it in then." Lara replies, "That would be the stupidest move you have made, and that is really saying something. I think you'll appreciate it." Pierre nervously sighs; "Ahhh" Larson places the stone in the receptacle and shrugs when nothing happens. Pierre: "A nice try, but a waste, Miss Croft." Lara says, "Wait for it." The ground trembles, followed by a bright flash with an explosion. Larson's hands and legs are burning. Lara: "Don't say I didn't warn you." Pierre helps Larson put the fire out. Pierre, shaken, "What is it, what have we done." Lara replies, "In your usual flamboyant style, you have set in place the next gate phase." Pierre: "The next gate phase?" Lara: "If my memory serves me, the gate has re-aligned itself. If it does not receive two of the stones in the next few moments... Phew!" and gestures an explosion. "If I was you, I would grab your Cro magnum cowboy and run as fast as your little legs can carry you. Avoir Mon Cher."
